English and golf in Scotland

English and golf in Scotland

Learn English on the green : study, sport, and friendship under the Scottish sky!

Study English in Scotland

Living in Scotland means immersing yourself in breathtaking landscapes, surrounded by castles, moors, and a language waiting to be discovered.

Our program combines English learning with an elegant and engaging sport-golf-right in its country of origin. It’s designed for young golf enthusiasts who want to explore the history of the game while improving their English.

Designed for young enthusiasts, the course offers two weeks of full immersion in English and golf lessons with professional instructors, all on a university campus just 15 kilometres from the historic centre of Edinburgh, one of the most charming cities in the United Kingdom.

The programme is structured to offer a perfect balance between study, sports activities and discovering the local area, promoting natural language learning through daily interaction with native-speaking teachers and international classmates.

English lessons with native-speaking teachers

English classes are held in the mornings, from 9:00 to 12:00, Monday to Friday. Students are grouped by level in small classes to ensure effective and personalized learning.

All teachers are highly qualified, and the lessons are designed to enhance daily focus and strengthen language skills – especially speaking and listening – with a focus on vocabulary and conversation.

The aim is to develop language skills in a natural way, improving comprehension, oral expression and vocabulary useful in everyday life and in travel or study situations.

At the end of the course, students receive a detailed progress report covering their achievements over the two weeks.

College life: learning, friendships, and international comfort

Studying in a college setting and living with students from different countries enriches the experience, allowing participants to make new friends and practice English in everyday life. In past editions, our students met peers from Spain, France, Russia, Greece, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Latvia, and Serbia!

The stay takes place on a modern university campus surrounded by greenery. Students stay in shared flats accommodating four to six people, each with double rooms equipped with private bathrooms. The communal areas are designed to encourage socialising and relaxation, creating a safe and stimulating environment where students can practise their English outside of class.

The campus offers a wide range of services, including daily room cleaning, weekly linen changes and three meals a day served in the canteen, as well as access to high-level sports facilities. These include a sports hall, football pitches, bocce courts, a nine-hole golf course and a national equestrian centre (the Scottish National Equestrian Centre). Each day is designed to offer variety, wellbeing and fun.

Golf is at the heart of the programme, practised under the guidance of PGA-certified instructors at the Oatridge course, which is located within the campus. Students are divided into groups according to their level and follow a technical course that starts with the basics and progresses to practice on the green. Sessions are dedicated to the tee, the driving range and the actual game.

In addition to daily lessons, the programme offers the chance to play on some of Scotland’s most prestigious golf courses, including the renowned Links and Parkland courses near St Andrews — widely regarded as the ‘home of golf‘. Students experience the thrill of playing in these historic and picturesque settings while improving their technique and sharing their passion for the sport with classmates from all over the world.

A full cultural experience

A study holiday is not just about studying and sports; it’s also a cultural adventure.

The programme includes two full-day excursions — one to St Andrews and another to a destination to be confirmed — as well as local visits and evening activities. Students will have the opportunity to explore castles, museums, natural landscapes and Scottish traditions, and will be able to share their experiences and make new discoveries.

Interacting with international students promotes cultural and linguistic exchange, providing an opportunity to grow and open up to the world every day, and to create lasting bonds.
